 Content Development and Creation

Everyone’s looking for more content these days. The problem is, a lot of it is ineffective. That’s what happens when you don’t give much thought or planning to what you’re putting out there. It just adds to the noise.

I’ll help you figure out what your target audience needs to know and how they’d like to learn. We’ll figure out what the most effective way to reach them — and what’s the best use of your budget.

I can take existing material and rework it, create original material or mix and match as required. I’m comfortable taking on research tasks, even in unfamiliar areas. And because I’m a former newspaper reporter, I know how to conduct interviews with your subject-matter experts that help tell the story of your organization in a compelling way.

 Key Messages Planning

Sometimes my clients know right away what the key messages should be. Sometimes we have to develop them together. You may find it’s helpful to have the perspective of an outsider who can consider the marketing issues afresh.

This doesn’t need to take long, but it shouldn’t be overlooked. You want your materials to sound like they’re all linked and convey a united voice.

The other issue that frequently comes up is that companies have tried several messages over the years and never reconciled them. Prospective clients get a confusing array of reasons to consider a product or service. I can help you sift through them and figure out what’s most likely to be effective.

 Copywriting and Other Creative Services

Once the first two elements are addressed, it’s time to create. I can work with your team or provide my own group of top-notch graphic designers, web developers, photographers and other experts.

Because my background includes time as director of communications for an art and design college, I’m keenly aware of the need to marry words and images in service of a single creative concept. Today’s audiences are increasingly visually oriented. I never lose sight of that fact.

A suggestion: If you know you’ll need a writer, involve me in the planning from the start. That will save everyone time and energy because we’ll have a shared understanding of the project’s overall scope and purpose.
